are sold within minutes of landing on MH$P!

Kathy McKenzie
Studio Name: Dragonflight
Studio
Specialty:
I have a Degree in Fine Art and have been custom painting
model horses since 1995. I started out in oils, but evolved
into a primarily airbrush artist, with the added use of
hand painted acrylics, pastels, and colored pencils. I love
painting lovely, rich, and detailed colors, with a smooth
smooth finish. I am also happy to paint whatever prepped
resin or plastic model *you* prefer - I won't dictate to
you what horses I'm willing to paint, or in *what* colors.
I realize we all have differing ideas of what our "dream
horse" is. Many many live show winners and Champions over
the years, as well as NAN Top Tens, and NAN Champions.
Price ranges: Starting at
$65 for SM's, ranging to a base price of $120 for normal
Trad. sized horses. Adding dapples, sabino, pinto, and Appaloosa
options to these base prices does add to the final cost,
but I have yet to do a trad. sized paint job that cost more
than $300. I generally have a horse or two listed for sale
on the MHSP's also, though these tend to go fast, since
I try to keep them priced well in the affordable range.
Books:
I only accept *prepped* horses for commission work, but
if you can do this, my books are always open! My turn-around
time is very fast also - generally two to three weeks. I
take multiple horse orders, and allow time payments for
your CM ordered paint job. I also do portrait models, which
not everyone is willing to do these days.

Paint base coats in airbrush, then go over everything in
pastels, acrylics, pencils, whatever it takes to get the
right look. I've been painted for about 5 years, but only
'seriously' in the past year or so.
Price ranges: I try to work
with the buyer. trades are often considered, esp for unpainted
resins. At this time, I only take solid colors, but that
might change someday.
Books:
due to upcoming baby #2, books are extremely limited/closed,
however, hopefully by fall, we'll be back to normal and
a lot more open books and stuff.
