Gleep - Limited Edition for 2011
unpainted and painted ~3 and 3/4" tall relief bookend style medallion

Gleep WAS available both painted and unpainted.

While he can be used for display without any finishing, it is encouraged to at least primer your unpainted resin castings to avoid UV damage and yellowing that is unsightly at best and is generally agreed to not be good for the longevity of the work. Gleep is a sturdy little fellow but adding at least a coat of primer at least will keep him resilant for years to come! Please read the terms below and my policies page for more ordering information.

New unpainted white castings in stock now - ships immediately!
You can purchase an unpainted Gleep as a white solid resin casting for
$35 postage paid
(US shipped - add $5 for internationally shipped orders).

About Gleep

Gleep came to me from a friend as a companion for a new OTTB boarder I was taking on when I had a boarding farm. For those who aren't so familiar with donkeys you cannot treat them like other livestock (well and not get hurt I'd say!). You have to earn their friendship and respect. When I decided to no longer board horses my biggest dilemma was finding Gleep a good home with people and horses that understand donkeys (donkeys were not common in my area). Boarding him myself wasn't a great option for him; aside from being handled with sensitivity, he needed to be out with the right herd of horses (no mares!), and in central CT where I lived farms like these just weren't around (mostly individual turnout or large mixed turnouts). He wasn't happy being stalled unless he had a buddy. And lastly but hardly least of all, the problem that the braying donkey's make is hard to ignore and not highly ingratiating!

The story has a happy ending, a good friend with her own small boarding operation took him on in the end. He has a new herd of guys to hang out with. He has never lived with other donkeys and evidence suggests he is a little afraid of them, at the very least he clearly thinks he's a horse. Though he's never been anywhere close to the Grand Canyon he can still dream of braying that crazy heehaw in the grandest of amphitheaters where it will echo forever. So here's to my former noble steed who once upon a time owned me!
